My initial thoughts about blogging was "Who has the time?!" and "That is great for others but not for me." I worried that I would not have anything to contribute to the Blogging world. So when I signed up for the Blogging class I was dreading it. I procrastinated getting started.
After taking this blogging class; I have to admit, it's fun! I really enjoyed the creative side of this! Designing my Blog page was confusing at first but looking back that may have been my reluctance to get started. Choosing the designs and layouts reminds me of digital scrap-booking which is one of my hobby's! Once I got into it I realized that is was much easier that I thought I would be. Its amazing how once my perception changed about blogging it became easier!
So my views about blogging have changed dramatically. I can see that it really doesn't take long to do, once you have your blog idea in mind. You can make work the way you want it to. It can function more like writing in a journal. Or you can use the blog to inform others what is happening in your classroom. Being an educator you are a life long learner and I can see blogging be a learning adventure for sure!
I can see blogging being such a great way for the Educators around the world to share ideas! I hope to use this blog as a way to discuss classroom issues with other teachers that otherwise I wouldn't know! I'm looking forward to being able to share ideas on classroom management, teaching strategies, lesson plans, technology in classroom uses, and organization ideas! WOW! Being able to share successes and failures in the classroom and get feedback for others is going to be so beneficial to grow as an educator. Being able to get multitude of view points on issues and have a dialog with other teachers with a wide range of experiences will not only help myself but others too.
One of the possible limitations to blogging I could see arising would be taking the time to post. Once the school year gets started and balancing the schedule of two busy teenage boys could make finding the time to blog a challenge. Hopefully it will be like adding any other activity to our schedule and will require making the commitment to blog. My plan is to carve out time once a week to sit down and reflect on my classroom and BLOG!

Kindergarten Technology infused lesson

One of my technology infused lessons I have done uses the App Fotobabble. We had been learning about different shapes and the shape attributes. To assess the students knowledge about the shapes they had to create a "Shape Monster" and then write about the shape attributes. As part of the assessment the students then used the iPad to take a picture of their shape monster and upload it into Fotobabble. Once the image was the students then recorded themselves describing their shape monster with it attributes.

I felt the lesson went well the only issue that really needs to be tweaked is that the students need assistance navigating the App. I was able to work with small groups at a time at the teacher table. So as the students finished paper part of the project they would bring them to the teacher table to do the technology part of the assignment. Next time I will have the students turn in projects and as the week progresses pull small groups to work at teacher while the class works in math centers. Having multiple iPads available would be helpful also.
In the future I will link the Fotobabble to a QR code so that parents could scan the code to see their child's work at either Open house night or parent/teacher conferences.
What do think could help make this lesson better? I would love your input!
